Our Journey:

Established on August 7, 2014, at Sherwin Compound, Jeppu Kudpady, near Marnamikatta Circle, Mangalore, Karunamaya Ashram has become a haven for the homeless and those in greatest need. Led by Mr. Elias Coelho, a dedicated layperson from Mangalore, the Ashram offers a nurturing environment where individuals can find solace, support, and dignity in their daily lives. Currently, 50 residents call the Ashram their home.

Over the past seven years, Karunamaya Ashram has touched the lives of more than 120 individuals, offering care, rehabilitation, and a path to recovery. Many have successfully returned to their families after receiving the support they needed. For those who could not overcome their illnesses, the Ashram ensured their final journey was marked with dignity and respect, conducting funerals in accordance with their religious beliefs.

In November 2018, a second Ashram was inaugurated by His Excellency, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore. During this event, the foundation stone was laid for a 50-bed facility at Permanki near Fermai, designed to meet all government regulations. Unfortunately, the plan had to be abandoned due to unavoidable circumstances. The Ashram remains reliant on the generosity and goodwill of its benefactors, well-wishers, and supporters to bring this vision to life.

The Karunamaya team continues its remarkable mission of uplifting the underprivileged, providing not just medical care but also emotional and spiritual healing. With your support, we can expand this vital work and bring hope to even more of our brothers and sisters in desperate need.
