The Karunamaya Ashram was inaugurated on 7th August 2014 at Sherwin Compound, Jeppu Kudpady, Near Marnamikatta Circle, Mangalore 575002.
Karunamaya is an abode that welcomes the homeless and the needy with open arms. The Ashram is run by Mr. Elias Coelho, a lay person from Mangalore. At present there are 50 inmates who find solace and joy in their daily living.
Karunamaya Ashram at Marnamikatte has completed seven fruitful years of serving the destitute, has 25 beds and more than 120 people have convalesced here in the past seven years. Many of them have returned home after being appropriately rehabilitated. Those who succumbed to their illness despite full medical attention while in our care, received a dignified funeral in accordance with their religious rites and beliefs.
In Nov 2018, a second Ashram was inaugurated by His Excellency, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore and the foundation stone was blessed and laid for the 50 bedded facility that fully conforms with government regulations at Permanki near Fermai. However, the construction could not be initiated due to lack of funds. We are totally dependent on the goodwill and generosity of our benefactors, well wishers and friends.
The Karunamaya team’s selfless service in looking after the underprivileged and enabling an improvement in their health condition is truly commendable. And we request your wholehearted support and help in moving forward and continuing to serve our brethren in desperate need for survival.
